I am in the process of building a new N Scale model railroad, the BNSF Chicago Sub in N Scale, which is based on the BNSF Chicago Sub which runs from Chicago, Illinois to Aurora, Illinois.

This route is commonly known as the ‘Racetrack’ as it is a 3-track mainline, used by the BNSF Railway for freight services and by the METRA Commuter Rail for commuter services between Chicago Union Station and Aurora, IL.

I am doing a lot of research for this layout, making sure I do it right the first time. I am documenting my research on this website as well as on my BNSF Chicago Sub in N Scale YouTube channel.

What makes this research harder is that I live in the United Kingdom, so my research is limited to internet searches and my once or twice yearly visits to the USA. I have visited Chicago about 5 or 6 times already, so have quite a few photos of the area already, which I am using to help with my research. I also have a few friends in the Chicago area if I need any more information or photographs.

This model railroad replaces my old Rochelle Intermodal layout, which depicted the Rochelle, IL area. You can see all about my old layout on my Rochelle Intermodal website.

I will be putting up more information on a fairly regular basis, so please be sure to check back often, and make sure you SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel and also to this website (subscription form at the bottom of this page).
