I painted the underpass this weekend. Heavy rust at the front, getting less towards the back. Not quite sure about the road colour at the moment, but so far I’m happy with the rest. Graffiti will be added later this week.
Quick bit of painting done before work today – wanted to get the underpainting done so that I can start painting the models this weekend. First up is putting a layer of undercoat on the underpass. I also took the opportunity of adding a layer of the primer to my Showcase Miniatures MOW truck, while I had the airbrush out. I went through my detail parts drawers and found a selection of grafitti – had no idea I had collected so many! But perfect for the underpass.
This evening I added the 3rd Walthers Steel Overpass kit to the two I’ve already assembled, and now the underpass is ready for painting. Next step is to spray a layer of undercoat, then concrete paint for the walls and road, and a ‘steel’ paint for the columns. It’s going to look great once painted, weathered and detailed with graffiti. I’ll also be adding LED’s to light the interior
This weekend I had the chance to spend some time in the layout room, working on various projects. The first one was adding the flextrack mainline that connects the Kato Unitrack on the helix to the track on Level 1, the eastern end of Western Avenue Yard I received another Walthers Steel Overpass kit, which I am using to build the underpass underneath Western Avenue Yard (see previous post for more details).
